I'm glad yall all like the new look. I have been working on it a little at a time. I dont have any choice but to work slowly cause I am clueless with this computer stuff.

Any who....things are really growing around here. The grape vine is LOADED this year! The pecan trees are growing but the freeze still put a damper on our crop. Can you believe the size of the "Aflec's" as Danny calls them? They are so big & so spoiled! They quack all the time wanting me to give them something to eat! Too cute. Well just thought I would show you a few things. See Yall!!!

BLUE BIRDS

Tuesday morning I was sitting on my back porch reading & I kept seeing something moving again & again out of the corner of my eye. I looked up to see a pair of blue birds working together like a team building a nest inside a box. The box has been up for 3 years with ZERO activity. I have always thought it was too close to the house & the tree it is on is right by the pond. NOT a place for blue birds to make their home BUT HUSBAND put it there!! Well I guess its not as bad a spot as I thought. I got a real kick out of that pair of birds. They worked so hard carrying each piece of straw or other nesting material piece by piece. Waiting patiently for the other to come out of the box. Now I dont speak blue bird language so I dont know if there was any fussing & fighting going on or not. Either way...it never stopped their work. I watched them all day from inside & out. I hope to see some babies soon. Just like life....you never know who's watching you.

Oh Yeah Kelli....better late than never!
This is the Yo_Yo quilt that Mama made for me. She also made a set of valances & a bed skirt to match. It is one of my prized possession's!

MUCH HAPPENINGS!!!

There has been Much Happenings here at my house this past month. No I aint dead....I've just had more to do & I've used my time in other areas. Lots of folks have asked me why I haven't been blogging. Well I really do love blogging & gettin on the computer, so much that I can become obsessed with it real easy like! For years I have had the same morning routine (I love the mornings). It always consisted of getting the coffee rolling, gettin a cup of it, a little something to eat on & heading for the porch. Then I spend the morning with my goodies, my daily Bible reading, journaling and prayer. With blogging I started skipping that & heading to the computer first and FREQUENTLY missing my quiet time all together. So I have knocked off a bit & got back to the basics. I frequently look at everyones blogs (yall have all become such dear friends to me)to see how everyone is doing but not spending the time to comment. I told my friend Kelli that I have become a "LURKER" of blogs! LOL! There really has been a lot of exciting things going on here in the past month. We have been to 2 family reunions, (One on my side & one on Danny's side) 2 different graduations (Danny's daughter graduated from RN school & our niece from high school) & as you can tell from the pictures......MUCH FISHIN has been going on!! With the severe lack of rain (Oh BUT GOD IS SO GOOD GIVIN US OVER 5 INCHES OF THAT BLESSED HEAVENLY WATER YESTERDAY!!!!!!) there has been less field cutting sooooo WE BEEN A FISHIN!!! The bream & bass fishin has been soooo good!!! There has been some other "this & thats" goin on to but the important thing is....I AINT DEAD like yall all probably thought! So just thought I would let yall know that I am here....lurking! LOL!

PULLING UP OLD ONES & PLANTING NEW ONES...... this is a heck of a job & an expensive one. The end of January & the first part of Febuary is when we re-plant the pecan trees that died the year before. We have to plant when the tree is dormant. As you can see there are a few steps involved but blogger would NOT allow me to put them in order.

1st pic...Putting a new tree in a fresh hole.

2nd pic...Leveling and packing the tree & the dirt.

3rd & 4th pic...packing the dirt down.

5th pic...Hooking the wench to the old dead tree root to pull it out of the hole.

6th pic...pulling the old dead root out. You cant do this by hand.

7th pic...This should be the 1st pic. It shows digging a hole for a new tree.

8th pic...Sizing the hole for the root system.

9th pic...Attaching the leveler to prevent placing the tree too deep or too shallow.

Even though it is past planting time, I just thought I would show you the process. I am hoping that the Easter freeze & the drought doesnt cause us to do much of this next winter. It has been our hopes that growing pecans would be part of our retirment check. We have been blessed that everything for the farm has been paid for in cash but sometimes we fret when we see a small crop or things that hinder production. We are blessed again that we dont have to depend on a pecan crop to pay our bills & most importantly that our trust lies within God & His faithfulness.

AINT NUTHIN LIKE A GOOD FISHIN TRIP!!!!

Danny & I went fishin last week at a slew off the Altamaha river. We didn't get to start fishin until after 4 p.m. and quit about 7 O'clock. As you can see we caught a nice mess of fish. Mostly bream, a few nice blue gill, one white perch, and several nice catfish. Over 30 fish (and that aint countin the little ones we threw back) in less than 3 hours! Yall that is fun!! I have been fishin with this man for 17 years and there have been times that he takes things a little too serious. When the river gets low, often we have run up on a sand bar, or come to a spot where a tree is over the length of the slew, it aint nuthin for Danny to strip his clothes off...get out of the boat & pull it to the destination of his choice & then get dressed again. Sounds extreme but he always catches fish!! Oh & dont get a fishin lure stuck in a stump or a tree & think your gonna leave it there.....OH NO!! You gotta strip down & go get it! "Them things cost money", he says! River fishin is always tricky and ALWAYS an ADVENTURE!! I love to go and despite Danny's "Seriousness" I love going with him. When we got married, part of our vows should have been...."through sickness and health, high river or low river, when the fish are biting and when they are not....do you take this man....". AHHHH...aint that sweet!

"SHOW & TELL" AT KELLI'S HOUSE TODAY!

Kelli at "There is No Place Like Home" is hosting a "Show & Tell" day. So here is my show & tell item.

This is part of a tea set that was given to my Mama from my Daddy. The set only includes 6 cups & saucers, 6 salad size plates, the tea pot, and the cream and sugar bowl. I always remember it being packed up in a box in storage. Mama never cared for it much and frankly there was no use for hot tea in hot Alabama. I admired it as a child. When my parents divorced, some how my Daddy ended up with it. A few years ago I went to visit Daddy & seen the tea set displayed in his china hutch. I didn't recognize it until he mentioned where it came from. Because I admired it so much Daddy gave it to me. I guess it was bought in the 1960's when Daddy was in the Navy but I'm not sure where. I have never seen one like it. I love the delicate yellow roses on it. I wish there was a full set of china to go with it. Any who......this is my show & tell. Mama if you can remember anything else about it, leave it in the comments for me.
If you have something to show & tell go to Kelli's link at the bottom of my page & then you will see the details on how to enter your link to direct others to your "SHOW & TELL"!

With the loss of crops all over the South: THINGS ALWAYS TURN OUT BEST FOR THOSE WHO MAKE THE BEST OF THE WAY THINGS TURN OUT!

With the loss of lives at Virginia Tech.: GOD IS EQUAL TO EVERY SITUATION. HE IS EVER-PRESENT, NEVER-FAILING AND ALL SUFFICIENT.

We have no idea what GOD is up to in all of this mess! HOW dare I put HIM in a box! We are clueless to how HE is working in every situation that HE allowed to happen! I will wait with thanksgiving & praise to see HIS MIGHTY works!

HERE KITTY-KITTY-KITTY!!!

I went to Wild Adventures in Valdosta last week with my nieces and nephew. It is like a mini Six Flags but it has a small zoo too. It is a pretty nice place & I think over the years it will get better.
I am a Cat person. Wild Cats especially amaze me. What I would give (probably an arm or two..literally..after it was ripped from my body) to pet a big cat like a LION on the bridge of its nose! Oh & the paws....they just need to be touched too!! I want to really bad!! Maybe when I grow up I will be a lion tamer!!

I took these pictures of the cats...they were not moved by ANYTHING! They just laid around and WOULD NOT get up for nothing or nobody! I wanted to see the male get up & walk around but he just slept. I couldn't even see his face. Now this female would roll over every now & then so I got a decent shot of her.

Hope yall have a good weekend....I have to work the next 3 days!!

NUTHIN MUCH.......................

After talking to my brother for a long time today, I was left thinking and praying about some things that have been bothering me for a while. Sometimes it is so very hard not to let your focus be on the negative. If worry could kill I would be like Lazarus on the 4th day ...I would "Stinketh"! Anyway...there is so much negative to steal your focus. In the midst of it today I thought about how many positive things that are going on in my life too. The correct term would be to call them what they are and that is B-L-E-S-S-I-N-G-S!! My spiritual Daddy says..."You have to be intentional about things". He is right. So I am intentionally going to think of some BLESSINGS this afternoon.
Just a few....I'm thankful for my Mama & my brother. I'm thankful for my spiritual Daddy that always has time for me, no matter what. A husband that puts up with my weirdness and still loves me. I'm thankful for feeling like me again. Oh I could go on & on...I'll stop here. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME....ALL THE TIME GOD IS GOOD!

The pictures are of a new teapot I recently bought...from K-Mart on sale & A box full of letters from friends & family & some other stuff. Some blessings.

Like the lack of rain aint enough then we had to get some freezing temps for a few days! The pecan trees had already put on tender leaves & some were ready to pollinate. The young trees are burnt & much of the bigger trees top growth are burnt also. The big trees should fair better but I dont know if we will have a crop or not. Danny is worried about the young trees living. Danny called the county extension man to ask his opinion of it all. Well he had only seen a freeze like this once in his life...so who knows. The blueberry farmers are in a pickle too! They already had fruit on their plants! DRY!! Oh my it is sooo dry here. We haven't had any rain since March the 1st & our water table has been low for a few years now. Well there is one thing about it all....GOD knows what we need before we ask. I wonder how many of the farmers have murmured but not ASKED?! I think I'll do a mental check of that when I'm beating around hear. I will make it a priority to ask the farmers if they have ASKED GOD for rain. You never know what will come out of it all!

I tried to write an Easter post several times but I just couldn't. Too much to express! I love Easter & I love reading the scripture that tells about Jesus' sacrifice for me. So let me ask yall a question. When you read scripture do you frequently imagine yourself back in those days...like what would you do or how you would act if you were there when Jesus was crucified? I think about things like that all the time when I read the Bible. Another thing I imagine is how would that particular event take place now in this day & time.

"I was watching Fox news Friday & heard that they killed a man over in Jerusalem. They nailed the fella to a giant cross & let him hang there until he died. A reporter was doing interviews with folks over there & half of the people said this guy named JESUS was crazy, that he was demon possessed and wanted to be the President of their country...they said he wanted to be the ruler over the entire world! Can you believe that? Then the reporter was talking to some other people that said this JESUS fella was a really good man...perfect of a matter of fact & that he was sent by GOD!! Well I dont know what to think! Did any of yall hear that story on the news?"

So sometimes I think about things like that. I dont know why. My husband does not go to church with me. When I'm going to the sun rise service I always tell Danny that I'm going to see the stone rolled away. One year Danny asked me did I see Jesus. I told him that when I got to the grave yard that JESUS' body was missing & while I was calling the police JESUS showed up & told me to go home & tell Danny that HE will see him in a minute so that Danny could stick his fingers in the holes in HIS hands!

I love Easter, I love Good Friday! I guess what I'm trying to say is that the Bible is personal to me. The cross was personal to me. JESUS is personal to me. I love HIM & I am forever in debt to HIM but He said I dont owe a thing!
"He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Romans 4:25"

I love Spring!!!

There's white perch fishin and then bass fishin & TURKEY SEASON!! Monday Danny & I went to see if we could get us a bird. It was foggy & we couldn't get the gobbler to come down from the trees. He flew from tree to tree. Yesterday there were 3 toms competing to get to my decoys first. It is an amazing thing to hear the deep tone of a swamp bottom gobbler yelling his head off. Then to see him & his competitors vie for the hen at hand...ahhh! The joy! Any who...it was a good morning! We went this morning but we could barely get a turkey to yerp. Go figure! It was still nice to be in the woods as the world was waking up. Oh he had an 8 inch beard & some serious spurs!

Revee & her family just acquired 3 new additions to their family....pretty little cocker spaniel puppies. Well about 3 weeks ago I ended up with a new addition too. I was coming home & found this cutie in the middle of the road. No mama, no siblings, and NO one would claim her in the area. So I took her home. Despite trying to name her...she keeps getting called "Little Girl". Gandalf does not like her one bit...I thought he would get use to her but so far it is a NO GO! Danny didn't like her either & he still tries to act like he doesn't like her but he has been heard in the early morning hours talking to her & has been caught loving on her too. What kind is she.......well a SOONER I reckon, sooner or later we will figure out what she aint! She does have big feet!
