Last Friday Mama and I went to Savannah for a shopping and eating day. This is the famous River street which is full of unique eating places and gift shops. The gift shops are high priced and to tell you the truth, Mama and I didn't find a thing we wanted to buy. There are several candy shops...I liked them....but I was very good and only took the samples that were given out to the passers by! As I get older I have found what I am made of and what I am not. I AINT NO CITY GIRL!! I don't like waiting to cross the street and in Savannah...but you have to wait or ELSE!!. There are people all over the place and it's not just tourists..it's business folks that live and work there. Noisy!! It just aint for me. When I was in my 20's I would have enjoyed this but not now!! I enjoyed being with Mama but there aint nothing for me in Savannah, Georgia! Well maybe an Olive Garden and a Krispy Kreme!!
My Mama was here visiting over the weekend. This morning we were sitting out on the back porch drinking coffee when this Barred owl flew across the pond. My husband seen her yesterday but we were not as lucky. She flew to several different places near the pond before I lost sight of her. I say "HER" because I believe she is a her. The males are usually a good bit smaller than the females. I have encountered barred owls up close and personal three times in my life. They are very docile. Federal and State laws are very strict about having an owl, birds of prey and other wildlife in your possession. Due to the experiences I have had with the barred owl, I came real close to pursuing a license in wildlife rehabilitation and specifically in birds of prey. A horrible incident with Auburn University in Alabama detoured me. It is still a tender spot with me and therefore I will not elaborate on that incident. I have often said if I had a career to do over I believe I would choose to be a veterinarian. But I am blessed because God continues to allow me wonderful glimpses of the animal kingdom He created. COOL!! HUH?

My Texan Friends!!
I have two special friends that live in the big state of Texas. Ginger and Gracelyn. Are those not the prettiest names! Now I have never met these little Southern Ladies in person but I have seen many pictures of them and they are prettier than their names. We have a lot in common. We all three like tea, we love the books and the TV show "Little House on the Prairie", we love to grow pumpkins, we love dolls especially when our Mama's make clothes for them so we can dress them up! I could go on & on! Recently I asked them if I could come over and play with them because their Mama just made them some new dresses for their dolls. I was so surprised to get such a BIG and BEAUTIFUL invitation from them! Oh I want to come over & play soooo bad but we live very far apart. The next best thing to being there is knowing that they want me to come!! I am honored!! Well I just could not contain my excitement over my invitations from Ginger and Gracelyn! I have TWO friends in Texas!!! Aint that neat!! Thank you girls SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!! What beautiful invitations!! Oh I hope that one day we CAN play together!! Above are some pictures I thought they would like. A baby pumpkin and my pumpkin patch. The Dolls my Mama made for me when I was a little girl. Two box turtles and a baby bunny Danny found here on the farm. I hope you enjoy Girls!! Thank you again my friends!!

It's been like Wild Kingdom around here lately! We have had a pair of red tail hawks living on this farm since we squatted on this land. This year they raised some chicks but I was never able to get a picture of them. Saturday Danny spotted one of the adults at the pond fishing. You can see something white to the left of his tallon. This is a fish he caught. Danny was able to record him on video eating the shinner. One of the pictures you can see he has his tallons wrapped around the fish as it is trying to flop back into the pond. There has been a good bit of critter activity here. I'll share some more with yall later!

Joy of the Redeemed!
The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom. Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom; it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy. The glory of Lebanon will be given to it, the splendor of Carmel and Sharon; they will see the glory of the LORD, the splendor of our GOD. Isaiah 35:1-2
