What IS IT about graveyards? Either people really like them or they don't. This is a picture I took of a graveyard in Cataloochee Cove, North Carolina. It was a private cemetery with very few graves in it from long ago. I had to walk up a steep path to get to it. It was very peaceful & beautiful. Whoever picked the spot had a good eye. I hope that person got their wish of resting there. A place like that gives comfort when you visit a grave. So am I weird or do you see comfort in a pretty place like this?

Tina, I'm not insulting your picture but it looks "scoopy" to me and you know what scoopy means. lol Since you put that big header on your blog it won't download right for me. I wonder if anyone else is having a problem.

Hi Tina! I really like graveyards, especially old ones, but I wouldn't be caught in one after the dark....LOL!!

Hey, Tina, thanks for stopping by to see me. Well, you see....growing up in Atlanta, we just didn't see a whole lot of pecan trees around us. I know there are scads of them in S. GA, but I didn't get down there all that often, unless it was traveling on I-75 to FL. So, there you go!

I don't particularly care for graveyards either, although once we lived next door to one at our church & it became our playground for a couple of years.

I love graveyards...I will walk and look at each stone. Love the old stones. One day we will all find our way to one...unless like Pat we plan to be cremated. Hope her kids will let me bury her ashes when she goes...I will take them and put them between our Mother and Father! Thank you for remembering the sisters. Trouble often comes our way. It has always been and I guess always will be.

We often stroll around old graveyards, its history. Looking at the dates, imagining life back then and thanking so many of the past generations for working so hard to make this a good place to live.
I am with kelli, won't find me in one after dark !

Tina, I think cemeteries are interesting and not particularly scary....it's the live people outside the cemetery you gotta watch out for....

If you see somebody going down the highway with wheels on their behind (wasn't that the description of me) you'll know it's me....smile.....

As you know, I like visiting graveyards too. There's just something about the history and lives of those who've lived before us that I find interesting. I know...weird? :o)

Hi Tina,
I dearly love going to graveyards too and reading the headstones, wondering about each person and what their lives were like. It's a walk through unknown history. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who loves visiting them! A very beautiful photo.

I also love graveyards. To me , they are also comforting and I feel as if I am helping not forget those who have passed on. I did an epitaph project when I taught English and the students loved it.
(visiting cemetaries was optional, but most did this.)
